Spam
Spamming is the abuse of
electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages. (excerpt from Wikipedia) We also consider this any repeated
email fired out for advertising purposes in the email system in a very short
period of time to offer a service not requested by the recipient.
TFCD / TFP
An
internet born term which literally stands for ‘time for CD’ and ‘time for
print’. This generally means an
agreement whereby all concerned parties will work and the only form of
compensation will be pictures, either in electronic format and/or in print.
Other terms may apply, such as number of pictures, travel costs, but these
should be agreed prior to the shoot. These shoots tend to be for direct
personal promotion, portfolio, comp cards and agency books/websites only unless
otherwise agreed.
Test Shoot
This is often referred to
as TFCD/TFP on the internet, but this term really derives from model agency
terms. These shoots tend to be for testing lighting, direct personal promotion,
portfolio, comp cards and agency books/websites only unless otherwise agreed.
Comp cards
Also known as a composite card, is a marketing tool for actors and models. They serve
as their business card. A comp card typically contains a minimum of two
pictures – a cover page with full size portrait and a second page with a
selection of representative shots from the portfolio and the models basic stats
and contact information. Comp cards are used by models, and the model’s/agent’s
prospective clients.(Wikipedia)
Flaming
This is the act of posting
a comment or article in an open publishing forum that is intended to be hostile
and insulting. The person who participates n flaming is termed a flamer. Each
hostile comment or article is described as a flame (Wikipedia, 2005a). Flame
baiting is the act of posting a comment or article in an open publishing forum
that is likely to start flaming or a flame war; a series of flaming message. Flame
baiting is not directly hostile or insulting; rather it is a passive-aggressive
method in order to start flaming. The person who
participates in flame baiting is referred to as a baiter (Wikipedia, 2005b)
Trolling
An
Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet
slang, is
someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in
an online community, such as an online
discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or
to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion. (Wikipedia)

on to this site, you credit the copyright to the copyright holder.
Model Release
A
binding agreement between the model and photographer that assigns certain
rights to each party. The
photographer will normally always retain the copyright in the photos. It will
state that the model has given the photographer the permission to photograph
them and to use the photographs. It will also say how much you were paid if
applicable.
If it is a TFCD/TFP
agreement, the model will be given the right to use the photographs in their
portfolio.
Agency
A business that acts as a
representative on behalf of the models on it’s
books. It normally finds work for models and takes a percentage of their
earnings for doing so.
