In recent weeks I have been sourcing models for paid work on both this and other sites.
My question is this
Why are all of the responses from models who live zillions of miles away?
Are there no models left in the Greater London area who want work?

Above all - NEVER, EVER allowing myself to forget that photography is about PASSION, CREATIVITY, and most of all FUN.

Maybe that ones who did reply, but live too far away didn't do geography at school

I think this is quite a common occurrence, probably for both Models and Photographers.
I often place castings for models "local to... Telford in Shropshire".
The replies come from Glasgow, Inverness, Lancaster, Norwich, London, Plymouth, Essex and even Malta.

Also i often get when offering TF*... "Is this a paid shoot".
When seeking a model for a shoot involving Lingerie or any kind of nudity... "love to work with you, I will do Hair, Fully clothed Fashion/casual, Beauty... I do not do any nudity or Glamour".

I simply ignore and move on....

I live even further south than you and have the same problem. Six castings for paid/unpaid work in last two months and closest reply was 120 miles away. Seems like the southern models have gone into hibernation for winter. Roll on spring and a few might wake up.

I had the answer first-hand today. Meeting by chance a local model in the town in which I live, to whom I'd sent a modelling request some two months ago and not received a reply, - nor had she visited the site, - I said, "recognised you....  PLEASE log in once in a while and check your mail"! She replied, "Oh I haven't been on there for AGES! Too busy! Can't be bothered with going on the computer when I get home from work, too tired." So now we know.  

I cannot understand why you would want to suffer the casting call procedure.

If you are prepared to pay, why not just search for professional models on your doorstep?

This is a new record for distance - Ukraine. Not sure how local that is to me?!

A challenge:
The first model local to me, +/- 15 miles, who responds in the next 24 hours will get a very special offer. Intrigued? ....... then kindly respond.

Its not just the south either, i have had castings up on other sites for the north east.......zilch nada nichts nowt then i get a response from London, so i ask when she will be local to me.........no reply!

I would do a shoot in the ukraine, be just like shooting in the UK but with better backdrops

Yep same here 6 castings on all sites have given me a big fat zero -

due to circumstances changing i have a lot more available time and although i would love to be doing chargable busiiness i am realistic enough to understand that the economic climate will take a little while longer to pick up! but when offering free shoots tfcd why no responses am i that bad? do i have a reputation? very strange!

Checked the profile and the applicant lives in the West Indies.

I have noticed that there does seem to be a north - south divide on this. On other sites there are 5ish new models joining every day from roughly north of Birmingham compared to 1 from south of B'ham. It does seem odd, maybe all us southern togs should move up north.

Dont, i have been up the north east since the beggining of january watching all the tfcd post for the midlands, not 1 in the north east at all, seems to be completely dead up here, i cant wait to move back down in march and start working again, will then get some planned shoots done.
