Topic | Advice required for Canon 40D

I have a Canon 40D which lately has started to produce soft focus pictures although not all the time but the big majority. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you resolve it. Have been quoted £110 + VAT to have the body re-calibrated and will take 5-7 working days to do. Member Image Member Image Member Image Member Image

I've got the same problem with a Nikon D200.  It has been like this since I bought it new but I didn't realise it was faulty.  I thought everything on a digital camera had to be touched up on a computer, now I realise I was sold a pup.  Thank God I still use me Hassle Blad.  I think digital cameras are overpriced, over rated and over here.  Film rules!

Sadly it's a common fault on alot of digital cameras, It also the lens fault too as it miss the focus point. I seen a thread about it and I'm sure I have a link to it I see if I can find it and maybe you can do it yourself to really find out what is wrong with it.

Worth a try I guess I send you a pm.

I use a Fuji S5 and I was having the same problem, I was advised to reset all the functions to factory settings, switch it off, remove the lens, they the battery and leave it for a week - This clears the internal memory - Then reassemble try that first it worked for me.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a go. You may have saved me from having to part with £125. Will let you know.

Thanks
Andy

My tog says:-
Clean the contacts between the camera and the lens . I guess you will have tried multiple lenses and that the problem follows the camera, not justone lens. Clean the contacts using a cotton bud or simaler, nothing else.
