I was wondering who / what you all recommend to process card transactions....Is their any companies offering a terminal say online at minimal cost. Ideally I only want to pay per transaction, with no rental etc? 
Advice please...

Paypal Mercant Account possibly the easiest then

Other systems require you to have both a business trading account and a Merchant account, and if you want a machine to read the cards using chip and pin , they can be about £30 per month before transaction charges

Somebody has mentioned Barclays do a online facility that they only charge 3% per transaction, no monthly fee but you have to process at least £10 per month but cant find any more info.....

The right answer will depend on what you're taking payments for, how often and for how much.

If you're doing face to face payments (i.e not online) then you only need the single merchant services account - and HSBC do one for small businesses that's £200 for the machine, no rental fees for the first year, then £17.50pm after that.

But the rates are good, just 2% on credit and 25p on debit cards, and the money is in your account overnight.

If you're selling portraits etc, then you'll find your average spend will go up as people don't have to worry about it going on the card.  

I'm not sure I've seen any pay per use systems, but that doesn't mean they don't exist, as I would have thought that you need to stump something up even just for the machine, which is worth about 500 quid.

Paypal's Virtual Terminal is OK, but their monthly fees are greater than having a physical machine.
