Hi All,

yet more questions Im affraid.....

1) Should I be getting a release form signed for every shoot?

2) Are there different forms for different assigments?

3) Do I need one signed in order for me to place images onto my website?

4) Where would i obtain such a form, or is there an industry standard form?

thankyou all in advance for your time and help.

Kind Regards

You can find a draft for a model release form on the internet, but if you pm me with your email address I'll send you one that I use.  You only really need one if you are exhibiting or selling your work but on no account pay a model extra money for signing one.  Make sure you agree first hand that the fee you pay the model includes the signing of the model release.

In order to use the work globally and/or commercially you need one for each shoot and importantly you need to be able to match images covered by the shoot to the release.

The release also needs to cover the laws pertaining to the country under which the release is signed, one example is France which has very strict labour laws covering models so a release signed under that jurisdiction is much more substantial.

The requirements of releases will vary according to what you want to do with the images. For commercial usage stock the gold standard are the Getty releases which are available in many languages here.

The first thing I get a model to do on a paid shoot is sign the release, no release = no shoot = no money paid = no exceptions. I certainly would never pay a separate fee to any model for signing one.
